"...she stood at the side of the great hall with hands neatly in front of her apron, discretely observing the banquet guests from beneath her lashes. The cacophony of tableware, cutlery, bellowing and shrill laughter were almost deafening to her ears, accustomed as they were to the gentle voice of her father and the quiet companionship of flowers, easels and palette. She had only ever seen Castle Keukenhof from afar, its upright bearing, crowded windows and somewhat shocked expression were not really to her taste. But today, she saw it as beautiful. An expansive selection of elegant and extravagant bouquets had been requested by the Baroness to mark her 50th birthday. Her father had spent the previous day meticulously schooling her as to which arrangements were to accompany which banquet course, the blooms chosen specifically to complement both hue and scent of the dish being served. This was a new and interesting challenge for her father, one which she observed him accept with almost as much relish as she observed the rather ebullient guests attacking the gateauxโฆ"
