"...as she retreated high into the tiny attic of her fatherโs villa, she couldnโt help but feel it had been a drab day for Spring - almost as if the sun had forgotten to shed its cosy blanket and instead stretched it across the sky in a tired yawn, leaving the sky without contrast or colour. Her candlelight would remedy that. She anticipated the gentle flickering of a shadow on the wall, the richness and warmth of the flame breathing life back into the spent peony blooms she cradled in her arms as she ascended the stairs. Laying the peonies gently on her table, she reached for her palette and fresh powders of cochineal and lead, knowing they would be perfect for the faded blush of peoniesโฆ"
